Lieutenant Commander Adam Farley
Lieutenant Commander Adam Farley joined the Royal Australian Navy in 1990 as a Signalman. He completed postings to HMA Ships Darwin, Success (II) and Hobart (II); as well as shore postings to Naval Support Command, Naval Communications Area Local Station (NAVCALS) Sydney, and HMAS Waterhen; before being promoted to Petty Officer Signals Yeoman (POSY), thence Petty Officer Communications Information Systems - Information (POCIS). Postings to Waterhen, Naval Communication Station Harold E Holt and NAVCALS Sydney followed.
In 2004 Lieutenant Commander Farley received his commission and conducted the Junior Warfare Officer Application Course (JWAC) continuum as a Maritime Warfare Officer (MWO), receiving his Bridge Watchkeeping Certificate (BWC) in HMAS Norman (II) in 2008. Sea postings as Navigating Officer in Sail Training Ship (STS) Young Endeavour; Executive Officer in HMAS Tarakan (II); and Executive Officer in STS Young Endeavour followed. A Communications and Information Warfare (CIW) Officer, shore postings as Officer in Charge Defence Communications Station Sydney (now Fleet Service Desk); Operations Officer Fleet Information Systems Support Organisation (FISSO); and Operations Officer Information Warfare Force (IWFOR) were his most recent.
Career highlights include Operation DAMASK deployment to the Red Sea in 1992 onboard HMAS Darwin; numerous SE Asian deployments; and participation in Young Endeavour’s World Voyage in 2015 - most notably participation in the 100th Anniversary of Anzac Day at Gallipoli, and sailing from Rio to Fremantle, via Cape Town.
Lieutenant Commander Farley assumed Command of STS Young Endeavour in July 2021.
