Lieutenant Commander Alec Fieldsend
Lieutenant Commander Alec Fieldsend joined the Royal Australian Navy in 2006 and after graduating the Australian Naval College posted to HMAS Kanimbla and deployed to Fiji supporting OPERATION QUICKSTEP. Graduating ADFA in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science, he undertook navigation training in HMAS Tarakan; supporting PACIFIC PARTNERSHIP and warfare training in HMAS Newcastle before award of BWC in 2011. As boarding officer LCDR Fieldsend deployed to the Middle East Area of Operations (MEAO) in 2012 on OPERATION SLIPPER.
LCDR Fieldsend posted to Ardent Five (Armidale Class Patrol Boats) and HS Red Crew (Hydrographic Survey Ships) as the navigation officer 2013-2016 supporting OPERATION RESOLUTE and surveying the eastern Papua New Guinea archipelago before assuming duties as navigation officer in HMAS Newcastle 2016-2018 and returning to the MEAO in 2017 on OPERATION MANITOU. In 2018 LCDR Fieldsend posted to Sea Training Group as the Deputy Fleet Navigation Officer, undertook Principal Warfare Officer training and Advanced Navigation Course concluding in 2020 before posting as navigation officer to HMAS Choules. LCDR Fieldsend returned to Sea Training Group as the Fleet Navigation Officer in 2022 before assuming command of ADV Cape Capricorn on 5 December 2023.
