LCDR Christopher Saville

Lieutenant Commander Christopher Saville joined the Royal Australian Navy in 2007 from Brisbane where he was employed as a Public Servant within the QLD Government. After completing his initial period of service as a Boatswains Mate he commissioned in 2011 as a Maritime Warfare Officer.

He conducted at sea Maritime Warfare Officer training in HMA Ships Tobruk, Maitland, Ararat and Parramatta where he was awarded his Bridge Warfare Certificate in 2014.

Follow on consolidation postings were conducted as Executive Officer of the Darwin based Patrol Boat crew Attack Four and HMA Ships Bathurst and Maryborough.

Upon successful completion of Principal Warfare Officer (PWO) Course, sub-specialising in Surface Warfare in 2017, Lieutenant Commander Saville served at sea as a PWO (2018-2020) and Operations Officer (2020-2021) in HMAS Canberra. During this time Canberra carried out Sea Series 18, 20, 21. Ocean Series 19, INDO PACIFIC ENDEAVOUR 19, AUSINDEX 19, Talisman Sabre 19, 21, REGIONAL PRESENCE DEPLOYMENT 20, LARGE SCALE GLOBAL EXERCISE 21 and two UR Work Ups. His sea service has predominantly been focussed in the Indo-Pacific region, including engagement with regional partners and operational service on Operation RESOLUTE.

Saville holds a Bachelor of Organisational Leadership.

Lieutenant Commander Saville assumed Command of HMAS Larrakia on 6 December 2021.
