Lieutenant Commander Georgina Rae-Martin

Lieutenant Commander Georgina Rae-Martin was born in Sydney, New South Wales, joining the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) as a Maritime Warfare Officer in July 2003. After undertaking her initial training at the RAN Naval College at HMAS Creswell, she completed her subsequent employment and warfare training in patrol boats and frigates, before specialising as an Principle Warfare Officer- Mine Warfare.

After specialisation Lieutenant Commander Rae-Martin served as Operations Officer on HMAS Gascoyne, Executive Officer on HMAS Diamantina, and as Staff Officer Mine Warfare to the Commander Mine Warfare and Clearance Diving Task Group. During this time she deployed on multiple maritime operations and exercises throughout the Indo-Pacific, North America, and Middle East Regions, and attended the International Advanced Mine Warfare Course in the United Kingdom and Belgium.

Lieutenant Commander Rae-Martin has completed several postings ashore including Staff Officer within the Littoral Program of Navy Capability Division, and as Officer in Charge of the Local Career Management Centre for the Shoalhaven.

Lieutenant Commander Rae-Martin is married to Rachel and they have two daughters, Belford and Marlee. Her interests include most sports, fishing, camping, and spending time with family and friends.

Lieutenant Commander Rae-Martin assumed Command of HMAS Diamantina on 12 December 2022.
