The Royal Australian Navy has operated a number of Landing Craft, Vehicle and Personnel (LCVP) since 1993. One LCVP is held in reserve and is operated by Defence Maritime Services at Garden Island, Sydney, who are also responsible for the maintenance of these craft.

These aluminium craft were built by Geraldton Boat Builders and can carry up to 36 personnel or a Land Rover with a half-ton trailer.

In January 2020, HMAS Choules operated LCVPs in support of the evacuation of Mallacoota residents, tourists and pets during Operation BUSHFIRE ASSIST 2019-2020.
