Abstract

This volume is the proceedings of a closed-door seminar held in Canberra in June 2009 (papers updated), in conjunction with the Australian National Centre for Ocean Resources and Security at the University of Wollongong, examining the legal issues associated with counter-piracy operations.

It examines the types of piracy that have occurred in the Malacca Strait and off the Horn of Africa, before examining legal issues at the international and national levels, as well as the ability of the ADF to conduct enforcement operations and rules of engagement issues.
