PACIFIC 2004 - RAN Sea Power Conference

Following on from the success of the PACIFIC 2000 and PACIFIC 2002 International Naval and Maritime Expositions in which the Sea Power Conferences were an integral part, the third in the series; PACIFIC 2004, will be conducted at the Sydney Exhibition and Convention Centre from Tuesday 3 February 2004 to Thursday 5 February 2004 (inclusive).

The Royal Australian Navy’s biennial Sea Power Conference will be convened, in parallel with the PACIFIC 2004 International Maritime Conference and a comprehensive range of industry exhibits. The RAN Sea Power Conference will run for three days during the Exposition from Tuesday 3 February 2004 to Thursday 5 February 2004. Attendees will include defence personnel from Australia and overseas as well as delegates from industry, the strategic arena, politics and international relations amongst others. Over 800 delegates are expected to attend. For 2004 the Sea Power Conference is entitled:

“Positioning Navies for the Future”

PACIFIC 2004 promises to build on its past achievements to once again be an excellent forum. We intend to explore a comprehensive range of issues that focus on future maritime operations. Adaptation of navies to an increasingly demanding strategic, technological, cultural and economic environment, and how they might manage the personnel factor within a rapidly evolving maritime operations seascape, and just what that might be like, are but a few of the sessional themes that will engage interest. The event will again showcase not only Australian developments, but also what the region and the world have to offer. On show at the Exposition surrounding the Conference will be displays of the very latest naval and maritime technologies. This will also facilitate opportunities for valuable discussions between potential defence customers and suppliers.

Noteworthy defence personnel and experts from Australia, the region and further afield will be presenting over three days, with significant opportunities provided in the Conference Program for delegates to visit the Exposition displays. It is the flagship Conference on maritime issues for the Royal Australian Navy and is expected to draw considerable attention from across the world’s professional maritime community, in terms of industry, commercial, Defence and security interests.
