Working Papers: New Technology and Medium Navies
PDF : 211.88 KB
Abstract
This paper addresses the restraints medium sized navies inherently face and the subsequent impact these have on fleet technology, size and structure. Medium sized navies are generally constrained by the levels of available resources resulting in medium numbers of ships but not necessarily medium capabilities. Their missions vary and often range from protecting shipping to offensive operations and support to allied operations; and highlight the importance of capability and network interoperability.
