Abstract
These two papers, by members of the Indonesian and Philippine navies respectively, discuss maritime issues relevant not only to their countries but to the wider region. The first paper examines the Malacca Strait and how to best manage environmental pollution under MARPOL73/78; while the second paper examines the development of a Philippine maritime surveillance capacity.
