To mark the progress Navy has made in relation to the employment of women on the occasion of the International Fleet Review, Chief of Navy commissioned, and the Governor-General launched, a book titled Winning at Sea - The Story of Women in the RAN. There are two purposes in publishing this book. The first is to provide a chronology of the history of women since the disestablishment of the Women's Royal Australian Naval Service (WRANS) in 1985 and the second is to provide an insightful and pragmatic perspective on service at sea for women - through the eyes of the women themselves. A limited number of copies of the book are available by emailing wendy.gould1@defence.gov.au.
