Lieutenant Commander Matthew Sandri
Lieutenant Commander Matthew Sandri was born in Melbourne and grew up in Victoria. He commissioned into the Royal Australian Air Force in 2006 serving as a Navigator until transferring to the Royal Australian Navy in 2009. He has since served extensively at sea as a Seaman Officer and Surface Warfare Officer. SBLT Sandri served as an Officer of the Watch in sea appointments including ARDENT 6, ARDENT 1 and HMAS Ballarat culminating in award of his BWC in 2011. Subsequently LEUT Sandri served in HMAS Yarra before undertaking Mine Warfare Officers course in 2014 and serving as operations officer in HMAS Diamantina.
In 2016 LEUT Sandri commenced PWO training specialising in Surface Warfare, posting to Sea Combat Command on completion of course in 2017 before a subsequent promotion to Lieutenant Commander and posting to the commissioning crew of the Guided Missile Destroyer HMAS Brisbane. During his three years in Brisbane LCDR Sandri served as TASO and Operations Officer. During this period at sea, he helped bring the ship to IOC culminating in extensive Combat system trials, gunnery and missile firings off the west coast of the United States.
LCDR Sandri has held key appointments ashore in Fleet Command as Force Warfare Officer and N3 Sea Combat Command planning and executing multiple multi-national exercises and in Navy Headquarters at Career management Navy as the PWO and Navigation Career Manager.
LCDR Sandri assumed command of ADV Cape Fourcroy on 28 November 2022.
