The Sea Power Centre - Australia is affiliated with a range of like-minded organisations in Australia and overseas, ranging through longstanding arrangements, memoranda of understanding and informal links at the working level.

 

Australian Institute for International Affairs

An independent, non-profit organisation promoting interest in and understanding of international affairs in Australia.

 

Australian National Centre for Ocean Resources and Security

The Sea Power Centre - Australia and Australian National Centre for Ocean Resources and Security have a very close relationship. The RAN, via SPC-A's predecessor the Maritime and Strategic Studies Program, was responsible for establishing and sponsoring ANCORS, then known as the Centre for Maritime Policy, in 1994 at the University of Wollongong.

Dr David Stevens, Director Strategic and Historical Studies at SPC-A, Rear Admiral James Goldrick, AO, CSC, RAN (Ret'd), Senior Fellow at SPC-A, and Mr Andrew Forbes, Deputy Director Research at SPC-A are all Visiting Fellows at ANCORS.

 

Australian Naval Institute

A forum for the exchange of knowledge and ideas concerning the Navy and the maritime profession.

 

Australian Strategic Policy Institute

The Sea Power Centre - Australia and the Australian Strategic Policy Institute are regular collaborators on maritime issues. Most recently, this included participation in the ASPI conference on Maritime Confidence Building Measures in the South China Sea, 12-13 August 2013 in Sydney.

 

Corbett Centre for Maritime Policy Studies

Developing and promoting the understanding and analysis of maritime policy and strategy through the interaction of policy-makers, practitioners, academics, industry and commerce.

 

Korean Institute for Maritime Strategy

The Sea Power Centre - Australia signed in February 2012 an MOU with the Korean Institute for Maritime Strategy.

KIMS is the Korean equivalent of SPC-A. Captain Justin Jones, RAN, Director SPC-A was a speaker at the 11th International Seapower Symposium, co-hosted by KIMS and the ROK Navy, in September 2013.

 

Lowy Institute for International Policy

The Sea Power Centre - Australia and Lowy Institute for International Policy have collaborated for many years on maritime research.

Captain Justin Jones, RAN, Director SPC-A, was during 2010 the inaugural Navy Fellow at the Lowy Institute and was a contributing author to a major paper Crisis and Confidence: Major Powers and Maritime Security in Indo-Pacific Asia.

The Lowy Institute and SPC-A have cooperated on the organisation of a number of workshops and conferences. This includes the recent Lowy Institute and Council on Foreign Relations Council of Councils Fifth Regional Conference.

 

Maritime Institute of Malaysia

A policy research institute set up by the Malaysian Government to look into matters relating to Malaysia's interest at sea.

 

National Centre for Maritime Policy Research

At Bahria University, Pakistan - a Federally Chartered Public Sector University established by the Pakistan Navy in 2000. It plays a major role in grooming future leaders who can make a positive difference to the world around them.

 

National Maritime Foundation - India

In February 2013 the Sea Power Centre - Australia signed an MOU with the National Maritime Foundation - India.

Since 2006, successive Directors of the Sea Power Centre - Australia have attended the National Maritime Foundation's annual Maritime Power Conferences.
